Saturday 7th July was a lovely hot (very hot - + 31C) summers afternoon for our annual Fund Raising day
for a charity chosen by our President Bob Gammie. This year the charity was St. John Ambulance. The day starts off with ‘The Spider’ where the jack is placed in the middle of the green, members stand with one foot in the ditch and at a signal all bowl together to see who can get nearest to the jack, it was won this year by John Goodhew, again! We noticed that he bowled AFTER everyone else, I think that tells us something!

A lovely strawberry tea with scones, jam,
strawberries and cream laid on by Rita
our Club Captain and many helpers,
thanks you to you all for a splendid
spread, thoroughly enjoyed by over 50
members and friends.
Rita our Club Captain receiving the
Trophy (See History) from Bob
Gammie our Club President after
narrowly winning this year by five
shots, last year it was a draw. Indoors
the President’s teams won but outside
the Captain’s teams had a bigger
majority to settle the final total score.
The Trophy is a framed piece of the
second hand carpet the Club started
bowling on in Hatfield Peverel Village
Hall in the 1990s.
It is already hot in here, are the fans on?
