Hatfield Peverel Bowling Club Special Memorial Day Competition, Saturday 13th November 2021
This is the first time we have been able to hold this competition since November 1919 when the Covid virus started, it is in memory of three of our old and well respected members of our club who passed away within two months of each other. Chrissie Harris, one of our finest bowls and a lovely lady, Maurice Ball our long standing treasurer and Ron Jarvis who supported the club for many years with his dry sense of humour and his Friday night ‘drive’ competitions, all very sadly missed. Sandra Tolfrey who knew them all very well organised the event with precision planning, well done to her, supported by other members, many thanks. Sandra also mentioned other late members who have passed away recently, all remembered. We hope to hold this competition annually on remembrance weekend to honour and remember them and their lives.
Eight teams of four bowlers played three games of eight ends to find the team with the highest aggregate score, with breaks for lunch and a lovely afternoon tea at the end with scone, jam and cream yummy! A very happy way to celebrate our lost members who I am sure would have approved.
