Monday evening 26th February was the Club Annual General meeting, this year with a difference. Our Chairman John Franklin retired after 20 years in the post. He started with the Club in its very early days when the bowling was held in the local Village Hall and was involved in the development of the new Pavilion and Bowling Green as we see it today. John worked tirelessly over the years, arranging friendly indoor matches, competitions and fun evenings of bowling, raising thousands of pounds for Club funds in the process. He could not have done all this without some assistance in the guise of his wife, Jan, who also put in many hours of work for the Club, including the Annual Dinner catering and organising refreshments for various functions and friendly matches. They will be missed but will still be coming to bowl at the Club. Well done to you both! John was presented with gift vouchers and Janet a lovely floral display from the Club. A big vote of thanks from the Committee was loudly applauded by the members present.
